Uchenna Bulliner

As development director, Uchenna Bulliner coordinates the membership/fundraising drives and solicits corporate and individual underwriting sponsorships. While studying English and Mass Media at Elizabeth City State University she worked as mid-day host and in the public affairs department at WRVS-fm. This opportunity became of knowledge to her because her mom was the gospel music director and announcer at the campus radio station. Following graduation, Uchenna worked as traffic manager for several radio stations in North Carolina before joining WNCU in 2001. You can hear her melodious voice daily on station corporate underwriting announcements.


Jim Davis

Jim Davis has been with WNCU since the very beginning, helping to supervise the construction of the station in 1994–5. Although he’s still the chief engineer (in charge of the technical operation of WNCU), he’s best known as host of “8 Track Flashback,” where you can relive fond memories as he plays R&B, rock ’n roll, pop, and jazz from the 1940s through the ’60s.

As General Manager, Sykes is responsible for the overall management, performance and operation of the station. She will also head the implementation of the training of mass communications students interested in the many facets of radio broadcast.


Kimberley Pierce Cartwright

Kimberley Pierce Cartwright has been in radio for a couple of decades, having worked in Raleigh and Elizabeth City, NC. She earned her Master’s in Public Affairs Reporting and was awarded the Hampton Roads Black Media Professional Echoes of Excellence Award. She now serves as news and public-affairs director at WNCU. You hear her local news reports every weekday morning and evening following NPR news.


Lolethia Underdue

Lolethia Underdue casually chose radio as an extracurricular activity in college, got bitten by the broadcasting bug, and switched her major from biology to English in order to get more involved in radio. She worked at various stations in North Carolina and Virginia before earning her Master’s in broadcast management at Norfolk State University. She is now the general manager of AudioNet, the campus wide cable TV student-run radio station that is also broadcast via the Internet; additionally, she is an adjunct professor at NCCU in the Mass Communications program.
